ANCIENT CITIES DISCOVERY 14 DAY TOUR
Highlights:
This tour takes you to seven ancient cities in eastern and northern China. In Shanghai you will see the Art-Deco glory of the Bund and the spectacular skyscrapers of the new city area of Pudong. In Hangzhou, Suzhou, Wuxi and Nanjing you will visit ancient temples, exquisite gardens, working canals and beautiful lakes. The sight of the Terracotta Warriors in Xi’an and walking in the footsteps of past Emperors in the Temple of Heaven, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace and on the Great Wall in Beijing, will make this tour a truly unforgettable experience.

ITINERARY:

DAY 1: AUSTRALIA - SHANGHAI (D)
Depart Australia on your flights to Shanghai. On arrival, transfer to the 4 star Grand You You Hotel for your two night stay.

DAY 2: SHANGHAI (B/L/D)
Today’s tour includes visits to the historic Bund (one of the world’s best preserved examples of Art- Deco architecture, located adjacent to the Huangpu River), the famous Nanjing Road Shopping District and the Yu Gardens. After dinner, travel up to the viewing platform of the Oriental Pearl Tower (third highest tower in the world) for spectacular views of the city by night.

DAY 3: SHANGHAI - HANGZHOU (B/L/D)
Morning drive through the countryside to Hangzhou. In the afternoon, visit the Linying Temple and Six- Harmony Pagoda. Overnight at the 4 star Novotel Hotel.

DAY 4:HANGZHOU - XITANG - SUZHOU (B/L/D)
In the morning enjoy a cruise on the beautiful Hangzhou West Lake, before visiting the Temple of Yuefei. After lunch, drive to the ancient Xitang Water Village, with its traditional houses and arched stone bridges crossing over small canals. Continue on to the historic canal city of Suzhou. Stay at the 4 star New City Garden Hotel for two nights.

DAY 5: SUZHOU (B/L/D)
In the morning, visit the classic Ming Dynasty style.Humble Administrator’s Garden. Later visit a silk factory, where you can observe the full cycle of fine silk production from silkworm to final product. After lunch visit the Silk Embroidery Centre, where you will see skilled craftswomen at work on exquisite pieces of art. After dinner, be entertained in the lovely Fisherman’s Garden, with a series of musical and dancing performances, that include Shanghai Opera and traditional folk singing.

DAY 6: SUZHOU-WUXI-NANJING (B/L/D)
In the morning travel to Wuxi by coach, where you will visit beautiful Taihu Lake before lunch. In the afternoon, continue on to the former Chinese capital city of Nanjing. On arrival, transfer to the 5 star Hilton International Hotel for your two night stay.

DAY 7:NANJING (B/L/D)
Morning city tour of Nanjing visiting the spectacular Yangtze River Bridge, Xuanwu Lake and the well-preserved City Wall. For lunch enjoy the famed local delicacy, Qinhuai, and watch some Chinese folk dancing. In the afternoon visit the colourful Confucian Temple area of the city and the Mausoleum of Dr. Sun Yatsen. Tonight, you will enjoy a sumptuous buffet dinner at Nanjing’s revolving restaurant, located at the top of one of the city’s highest buildings.

DAY 8:NANJING - XI'AN (B/L/D)
Morning transfer to Nanjing Airport for your flight to Xi’an. On arrival, transfer to the 4 star Bell Tower Hotel for your two night stay. Rest of day is free for you to explore this fascinating ancient city.

DAY 9:XI'AN (B/L/D)
Morning tour to the world famous Terracotta Warriors archaeological site. After lunch visit the Banpo Museum - located on the site of the 6000 year old Stone Age Banpo Village. This evening enjoy the spectacular Tang Dynasty Cultural Show.

DAY 10:XI'AN - BEIJING (B/L/D)
Today’s city tour includes visits to the Bell and Drum Towers, the Moslem Quarter, and the beautifully preserved City Wall. In the afternoon, transfer to Xi’an Airport for your flight to Beijing. Visit the Temple of Heaven (one of China’s most beautiful architectural treasures), en-route to the 5 star News Plaza Hotel for your three night stay.

DAY 11:BEIJING (B/L/D)
Morning tour to see world famous Tiananmen Square and the splendours of the Forbidden City. After lunch visit the Summer Palace, the former summer resort of past Chinese Emperors. This evening you will be entertained by an exciting Chinese Acrobatic Show.

DAY 12:BEIJING (B/L/D)
In the morning, travel out to China’s most famous icon, the Great Wall at Badaling. After lunch, visit the Ming Dynasty Tombs and a cloisonné factory. For dinner, enjoy the world famous local speciality, Peking Duck, at one of Beijing’s top restaurants.

DAY 13:BEIJING - AUSTRALIA (B)
Day free, until you transfer to Beijing Airport for your return flights to Australia.

DAY 14:AUSTRALIA
Arrive back in Australia.
