Do I need to reconfirm my tour?
YES! FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN THE CANCELLATION OF YOUR BOOKING. You must call us on 1300 654 604 before 16.00hrs (4.00pm) the day prior to travel with the name of your accommodation and room number.

What to bring
Sturdy walking shoes (preferably ankle high), hat and sunscreen, towel and toiletries, swimming gear, warm clothing, water bottle, torch, insect repellant, fly net to cover your head if you are bothered by flies (outback tours particularly), camera, pillow, sleeping bag (can be hired AU$15 except for Western Australian tours where sleeping bags can be purchased for AU$50; not necessary for fully accommodated tours i.e. Tasmania), money for optional snacks you might want to buy and/or meals not included on the specific tour you might be doing.

How much luggage can I bring?
The vehicle has limited space so please keep your luggage to a maximum of 15 kgs in a backpack or soft overnight bag with a small day pack for easy access to camera, film, sun block etc.

Do I have to participate?
Part of the enjoyment of our tours is bonding with a group of like-minded adventurers so we make them active and hands on. With the exception of our ‘Safari in Style’ tour, passengers are expected to help with the preparation of food, washing of dishes and general assistance to the guide as directed.

How fit do I have to be?
Our tours are active so a reasonable level of fitness and swimming ability is needed. If you enjoy hiking through gorges, swimming in waterfalls and directly experiencing the environment then our tours are perfect for you. If you have any doubts about your suitability for our tours please check with our Reservations Department before making a booking. Each tour has an individual fitness rating, available on our website and brochure.

What do I eat?
Our emphasis is on fresh food wherever possible and our meals are nutritious and varied. If you are vegetarian or gluten intolerant we can cater for you, but if you have very specific dietary needs you may need to provide your own food, please discuss this at time of booking.
For breakfast we supply cereals, toast, tea and coffee. Lunch is usually a self-serve sandwich and salads; in the evening we have a cooked dinner. We always carry water in the vehicle and you will often have the chance to buy your own drinks, ice-creams etc at stops.

How much water do I need to drink?
Doctors advise that between 2 and 3 liters (10-12 glasses) of water per day is essential when actively travelling in Australia. All vehicles carry adequate water supplies; passengers must bring a 1litre refillable water bottle with them on tour.

Where do I meet the tour?
Please ask your agent for your pick-up details at time of booking.

What are Local Payments?
These are National Park Entry fees or other costs to outside operators, National Park Entry fees are seasonal and need to be collected separate to the tour price.

National Park Entry Fees (subject to change) per person:
Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park: AUD$25
Boat transfer to Twin Falls (Kakadu NP): AUD$12.50
Tasmanian National Parks: AUD$11 per entry

Can I smoke and drink on the vehicle?
Australian Government regulations prohibit smoking and the drinking of alcohol inside tourist vehicles in Australia (smoking and drinking should be limited to stops along the route).

What’s the climate like in Australia?
Australia is by nature a warm and friendly place. You can expect high temperatures in the summer but be prepared for lower temperatures at night and during the Australian winter. Conditions can change quickly, especially in Southern Australia, and you should be prepared for rain and snow at times. For more information please see our individual Destination Guides.

Conditions of Travel
Adventure Tours Australia reserves the right to alter the route or itinerary of any of its tours and arrange alternative carriers to those advertised if necessary. No refunds will be given in these circumstances or in the event of any delay, curtailment or alteration of a trip resulting from any cause including severe weather conditions or mechanical failure.

A minimum number of passengers are required to operate each tour. It may therefore be necessary to cancel a scheduled departure and to offer an alternative or full refund for that tour. Adventure Tours can’t guarantee pick up or drop off times and are not liable for passenger failure to connect with other services. We accept no responsibility for loss or damage to personal belongings or baggage. The Aboriginal Components of our Top End Tours are subject to cultural conditions. Participants may be absent due to Cultural commitments with little prior notification and Adventure Tours Australia reserves the right to amend the itinerary in these circumstances and no refunds will be given.

Itinerary Disclaimer
Our itineraries are correct at time of publishing and may differ slightly to the one in the brochure. Occasionally our itineraries change as we make improvements based on comments from past travellers and our own research. Our brochure is printed in December for release in April; therefore if you have booked from a previous brochure there may have been changes to improve the itinerary.

Release form
Adventure travel carries a higher than normal risk and a signed release will be required from all participants before tour departure. This is signed on the first day of departure on each separate touring module if part of a larger package. A copy of this indemnity form is can be provided upon request.

Cancellation Policy
The following fees will be charged in event of booking cancellations:
48 Hours - 30 Days 30% of Fare
24 Hours - 48 Hours 55% of Fare
Within 24 Hours 100% of Fare

Other operator cancellation fees may vary from the above and are available on request. Cancellations should be made with your booking agent, who may charge an additional fee.

Children 7 years and under are not permitted to travel on any tour
Children 12 years and under are not permitted to travel on 4WD tours (bookings will be accepted for the NTK3, AY3 & AR4 -full adult fare).
Children over 12 years of age pay full adult fare
Children aged 8-12 years receive a discount on most tours. Prices available on application.
Children under 16 years of age are not permitted to travel unless accompanied by an adult.
Child prices are available upon application to Reservations

Whilst we make every effort to safeguard our clients, we cannot be held responsible for personal injury or loss due to events which are beyond our control. Passengers should note that adventure travel involves a higher than normal risk and a signed release will be required from all participants before tour departure.

Travel insurance is NOT included; we strongly recommend that passengers have their own travel insurance against illness, injury, loss/damage to personal belongings and not being able to travel on the confirmed departure date.

The Darwin <> Broome 9 Day 4WD tour
This tour has unique temperature, activity, and operational considerations not experienced elsewhere in Australia. The Kimberley is one of the most isolated, remote places in the world. It doesn't have the usual comforts and options of our other touring areas. We think this lack of conveniences is the REAL reason to visit this area and is what makes it so special and memorable for a lifetime. This tour is suitable only for FIT AND ACTIVE people. Most people traveling on this trip are aged 18-50. It is not suitable for children.

Adventure Tours reserves the right to assess the fitness capability of passengers prior to tour departure. Tour is not suitable for children. Due to the remote nature of the Kimberley region we use bush camps with limited facilities on some nights.

Do you meet our criteria?
  • I can hike 5-9kms a day over uneven terrain un-aided
  • I am prepared and able to walk in high temperatures and humidity - up to and more than 35 degrees Centigrade and 90% humidity everyday.

General Conditions for this touring region
  • There is a STRICT LUGGAGE LIMIT of 15kgs per person, in a backpack or soft bag.
  • Breakfast in Broome is not included with upgrade accommodation and upgrade accommodation is available on a request only basis.
  • Tour is not suitable for children under 16.
  • Tour is operated on a code-share basis with Western Xposure.

Itineraries may vary and/or attractions be substituted due to seasonal conditions, weather extremes, Traditional Owner and national park requirements. Safaris must be reconfirmed by 4pm the day before travel.

  • These tour packages comprise a number of different tour components; therefore you may travel with a different guide and passengers enroute.
  • Luggage limit of 15kg applies backpack or soft bag
  • East Coast Packages will in part operate as a code-share with Oz Experience, a division of Adventure Tours Australia Group Pty Ltd. Package is not suitable for children under 8 years of age.
  • The group size of maximum 24 people relates to our buses, but the Whitsunday Sailing and Fraser Island 4WD touring is operated by partner companies, whose group size will vary based on demand and boats available.
  • Upgrade accommodation is subject to availability, must be requested at time of booking and is not available at surf camp or whilst sailing. Upgrades are not available in advance at Carnarvon Gorge (although it may be available on a standby basis on arrival). Double/Twin rooms do not feature Ensuite facilities at Kroombit or Carnarvon Gorge. Upgrade accommodation is budget style, may be located on different premises to multi-share accommodation and may only be booked by passengers who book and travel together. Single upgrade is not available.
  • Itineraries may vary and/or attractions be substituted due to seasonal conditions, weather extremes, Traditional Owner and national park requirements. Carnarvon Gorge is known for flooding at random times throughout the year and during these times it is inaccessible by road due to high river crossings. Carnarvon Gorge may be substituted with other activities and accommodations.
  • Fraser Island fee is not included and payable upon arrival (AUD$22 per person)
  • Whitsunday Sailing does not include Environment Management Charge (reef tax) and other fees which are payable direct (AUD$39 per person). Stinger suit hire (Oct-May) is an additional AUD $10-$15 per person.
